Rationale:
|
This is to award the subject contract per the attached emergency declaration issued by the Superintendent on January 2, 2020. Bidding requirements can be waived under an emergency declaration however in this case the work was let out to a limited number of known vendors. A fax quote request was issued to Milcon Construction Corp. & J. Salvatore & Sons, Inc. J. Salvatore & Sons, Inc. responded with a proposal for $41,000.00 and Milcon responded with a bid of $16,900.00
Milcon will be required to cover the exterior façade with EPDM (rubber) and termination bars at 6 locations on the building façade where masonry is loose and falling. This work will safe guard those areas until next summer when the CIP 10863 project (now in design) will fully address these locations.

Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS: An Emergency Declaration was issued on January 2, 2020 for “Emergency Façade Repairs” at School # 23, and
WHEREAS such task requires the services of a professional roofing firm, and
WHEREAS: Milcon Contracting Corp. submitted the lower of two bids received on December 31, 2019 in the amount of $16,900.00.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Schools is hereby authorized to award contract for CIP10863 “Emergency Façade Repairs” at School # 23 under an emergency declaration to Milcon Contracting Corp. 142 Dale Street, Babylon, NY, 11704.for an amount not to exceed $16,900.00 for a term of 180 calendar days.
