Rationale:
|
This resolution is to grant the administration the authority to enter into contract as described above. In compliance with General Municipal Law 103, this contract was let for public and bids were opened in public and read aloud on October 6, 2017. Bids were examined and all due diligence observed in determining the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
A total of 5 bids were received ranging up to $865,000 and averaging $714,700.The work was designed by Sammel Architecture, PLLC who estimated it to be under $800,000. RLJ’s bid includes Alternate 1. Base bid $435,000 plus Alt-1 of $168,900 is total of $603,900.
After interviewing the apparent low bidder and confirming that they understood the scope of work, bids were found to be correct, and the firm had performed satisfactory for the Yonkers public Schools, Schools Facilities Management is recommending award of this project to RLJ Electric Corporation, for the amount of $603,900.
Overall, CIP CIP10745 provides for a new roof, repointed and sealed masonry, new exterior doors, new high tech security, relocation of the main office, lighting upgrades, miscellaneous sidewalk & drainage improvements and miscellaneous plaster and paint and requisite abatement.
Contract 5 of 5, ELECTRICAL WORK includes moving main office from 2nd floor to 1st floor for new lighting, power and data and relocation of intercom system as well as labor for security installation such as card access door controls, video door intercom/buzzer and security cameras. In addition the alternate work includes replacement of existing light fixtures with LED in all classrooms. |
