Scope - The purpose of this resolution is to renew the annual subscription for Blackboard Connect (ConnectED). This renewal will continue to provide the District with a means of communication which enables users to reach all persons or groups present in the system within minutes. In the event of an emergency or for informational type messages the system will call up to six different phone numbers per person and send an email with an audio file attached to an email address. The system will then, within fifteen minutes of sending the message, provide the sender with an email summary report of how many phones were answered by a person and how many answering machines picked up. The sender can log into the system to see the detail of the report which will help to identify phone numbers no longer in service, incorrect phone numbers etc. As a result of using the system the District continues to update phone contact information for students and staff to provide more accurate phone contact information. By utilizing the attendance calling feature for all schools, parents are notified of student absences on a daily basis. As of April 13, 2018, there have been a total of 7,959 Blackboard Connect messages placed District-wide, including the daily attendance calls. The system has been and continues to be successful in keeping the community informed of building specific and District events as well as emergencies. The total cost of the renewal is $66,245.00.

WHEREAS the District desires to renew the Blackboard Connect (ConnectED) system subscription for the 2018-2019 school year, and,
WHEREAS this system provides the District’s Central Office and Building administrators the ability to communicate with parents, community members and staff via phone and/or email by means of the Internet, and,
WHEREAS Blackboard Connect provides the capacity to communicate with all parties involved in the education of Yonkers’ children within minutes. These communiqués can be informational messages or used for emergency purposes reaching all those in the system within minutes. This includes up to six phone numbers and two email addresses, and,
WHEREAS the District continues to utilize the system extensively and with great success. As of April 13, 2018, the District as a whole has sent out 7,959 phone messages, comprised of Community Outreach, Attendance and Emergency Communication. Attendance messaging informs parents of student absences on a daily basis, from each of our schools.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Purchasing Agent of the Yonkers Public Schools issue a purchase order to Blackboard Connect, in the amount of $66,245.00 for the renewal of this annual subscription for the 2018-2019 school year.
