16.2 SHORT TERM EXTENSION OF GENERAL FUND SERVICE CONTRACT 2017-0000420 ON A MONTH TO MONTH BASIS for Elevator Maintenance and Repair to Slade Industries under the same terms, condition and fee schedule for an amount not to exceed $67,120.00 for term of ending June 31, 2018.

Rationale:
|
This resolution is to authorize the Superintendent of Schools to extend for 5 months the current contract with Slade Elevator to provide for the maintenance and repair of elevators throughout the District. Slade Elevator has won this contract in the past through competitive bidding and by the use of OGS contracts as well. They have performed acceptably, and was most recently engaged with the District through NYSOGS Contract PS903AA. It was the District’s intent to extend under this OGS contract but NYSOGS informed us that this contract has been recently changed and now requires a mini bid process. This extension will cover the district and provide time necessary to let this work for public bid.

Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS: The district desires to maintain all of its personnel and freight vertical lifts in a safe and reliable condition, and
WHEREAS: Contract 2017-0420 with Slade Elevator was due for renewal in January 2018 in compliance with General Municipal Law, and
WHEREAS: This contract was taken off a NYSOGS which was changed by the OGS preventing the continued extension of this contract, and
WHEREAS: The work entailed is to be completed by extending the existing contract terms and conditions with Slade Elevator on a month to month basis (including prevailing wage rate adjustments) at a prorated monthly rate for a term to end no later than June 30, 2018, and
WHEREAS: The work entailed will be packaged and let for public bid and awarded as soon as is possible replacing the month to month arrangement.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the contract for Elevator Maintenance and Repair be extended as follows on a month to month prorated basis (including prevailing wage rates) for a term to end no later than June 30, 2018 to Slade Industries Inc., 1101 Bristol Road, Mountainside, N.J. 07092 for an amount not to exceed $67,120.00.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Schools is hereby authorized to award this extension with Slade Industries Inc. 1101 Bristol Road, Mountainside N.J. 07092 under NYSOGS Contract PS903AA at the same cost of $191,592.70 (plus prevailing wages adjustments by NYS) for a term of 365 calendars days commencing on February 1, 2018.
