Rationale:
|
This is to award a general construction contract as referenced above as per the attached emergency declaration issued by the Superintendent on February 26, 2019. Bids are not required under an emergency declaration. The level of difficulty with the specified repairs and the full schedule of work precludes this work being done with in-house forces.
Milcon Construction Corp (Milcon) was selected because of they have an exemplary history with the District with low bid work and past emergency declarations.
Under the direction of School Facilities Management Milcon was directed to remove all damage roofing materials and furnish and install temporary roofing and flashing to maintain a water tight roof. The cost for this completed work is in the amount of $28,345.08. Milcon is also being retained on a time and material on-call basis to maintain the temporary roof until permanent repairs are made in the amount of $9,141.14. The total cost for completed repairs and on-call basis will not exceed $37,486.22.

Ladies and Gentlemen;
WHEREAS: An Emergency Declaration was issued on February 26, 2019 for the “Roof Wind Damage Repairs” at the Roosevelt High School and
WHEREAS: Under this emergency declaration the District solicited General Construction work for the prompt repairs to the wind damaged roof systems, and
WHEREAS: Milcon Construction Corp. indicated that they were capable and ready to make such repairs in the shortest time frame, and
WHEREAS: the District has a substantial successful history with Milcon Construction Corp., and
WHEREAS: Milcon Construction Corp. has indicated that the maximum cost to the District of the work that they are directed to perform is not to exceed $37,486.22,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the Superintendent of Schools is hereby authorized to award the above contract to Milcon Construction Corp, 142 Dale Street, W. Babylon, NY 11704 in the amount of $37,486.22 for a term of 365 calendar days.
