Rationale:
|
This is to award a general construction contract as referenced above as per the attached emergency declaration issued by the Superintendent on October 4, 2018. Bids are not required under an emergency declaration.
Milcon Construction, Corp., was selected by the Facilities Department because of their more than satisfactory history with the District. Milcon Construction, Corp., retained to remove damaged roofing and related work associated roof replacement work during the October 2018.
FOCUS POPULATION: The stakeholders of the Paideia School #15.
ASSESSMENT PROCESS: School Facilities Management will be inspecting the contractor’s work and monitoring the construction schedule through on-site inspections, daily progress meetings and record keeping.
PERSON ADMINISTERING CONTRACT: John P. Carr, P.E., Executive Director of School Facilities Management Department.

Ladies and Gentlemen;
WHEREAS: An Emergency Declaration was issued on October 4, 2018 for Paideia School #15 “ROOF REPLACEMENT & INTERIOR RESTORATIONS” and
WHEREAS: under this emergency declaration the District solicited general construction work for the prompt roof replacement and related work, and
WHEREAS: Milcon Construction, Corp., indicated that they were capable and ready to make such emergency repairs, and
WHEREAS: The District has a substantial successful history with Milcon Construction, Corp., and
WHEREAS: Milcon Construction, Corp., has indicated that the cost to the District of the work calculated and negotiated to date is not to exceed $1,566,000.00,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the Superintendent of Schools is hereby authorized to award the above contract to Milcon Construction, Corp., 142 Dale Street, West Babylon, NY 11704 in an amount not to exceed $1,566,000.00 for a term of 365 calendar days.
