Scope - The purpose of this resolution is to renew the District’s subscription to World Book Online, which is due to expire June 30, 2018, which includes World Book Children’s Edition and World Book Advanced (designed specifically for high school students). Both of these additions were added to our annual subscription during the 2012-2013 school year and the District would like to continue with those two additions to our annual subscription. This subscription will run through June 30, 2019. Students will develop computer, reading, and vocabulary skills through web-based research applying to all subjects and will carry these skills to the next grade. We will also be continuing our subscription to, World Book Kids, which includes Student Discovery Encyclopedias as well as interactive material geared towards younger students, ESL students and visual learners. The total cost of the renewal is $19,685.00, which represents an increase of $207 as compared to 2017-2018. The cost of this renewal is eligible for 100% State Aid reimbursement as CAI Software.

WHEREAS the District desires to renew our current subscription with World Book Online which will be in effect through June 30 2019, and,
WHEREAS the subscription provides access to World Book Online for all students and teachers anywhere there is an Internet connection. Additionally, both World Book Online Children’s Edition and World Book Advanced, designed specifically for high school students, were successfully implemented during the 2012-2013 school year. These two additional modules have now been added to our annual subscription, and,
WHEREAS World Book, Inc. is the sole provider of World Book Online.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Purchasing Agent of the Yonkers Public Schools issue a purchase order to World Book, Inc. in the amount of $19,892.00, which is eligible for 100% reimbursement as CAI Software, in order to renew our subscription to the World Book Encyclopedia online database for all computers in the Yonkers Public Schools and home access for students and faculty.
