Rationale:
|
Via Resolution 17.5 at their stated meeting on January 20, 2016 the Board of Trustees awarded a requirements contract to KG&D Architects for an amount not to exceed $1,000,000.00, which was amended on June 20, 2017 to increase the original agreement by $500,000.00 for a total amount not to exceed $1,500,000.00. This resolution is to assign the following specific work under that contract.
KG&D has been engaged to produce an evaluation report on the Boyce Thompson School Townhouses, and to register the Townhouses with the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
The report shall detail the existing conditions, recommendations for the best use of the buildings, suitability of the structure for any new use conditions, and identify any and all current code deficiencies requiring attention.
This Task was not issued for RFP due to the size, specific scope and the need for speed on this project. The firm has worked on the previous Building Condition Survey.
This project is to be authorized for $15,000.00.
The services that KG&D will provide include but are not limited to; Review existing drawings and inspect the building system components for evidence of movement, deterioration, structural failure, probable useful life, need for repair and maintenance and need for replacement. Prepare an estimate, schedule of milestones, and schematic design drawings and major product submittals for the minimum requisite upgrades that shall render a comprehensive building restoration for the recommended use.

Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS: under Resolution 17.5 at the stated meeting on January 20, 2016, the Board of Education authorized the award of a requirements based, professional Architectural/Engineering services contract to KG&D Architects in response to District RFQ313 “Architectural & Engineering Services for the School Facilities Management Department” for an amount not to exceed $1 million, amended on June 20, 2017 to increase the original agreement by $500,000.00 for a total amount not to exceed $1,500,000.00 and
WHEREAS: work as defined under that contract is required for capital project 10829 “Evaluation report on the Townhouses” at the Boyce Thompson School, and
WHEREAS: the response by KG&D Architects to request for proposals issued by the Facilities Department was deemed most advantageous to the District at a cost not to exceed $15,000.00, and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Schools is hereby authorized to appoint KG&D Architects, 285 Main Street, Mt. Kisco, New York 10549, to the task of providing professional Architectural/Engineering Services for the capital project 10829, “Evaluation report on the Townhouses” at the Boyce Thompson School for an amount of $15,000.00 effective March 22, 2018 under Contract No. 617160, “Architectural & Engineering Services for the School Facilities Management Department”.
