Term : 2017-2018 Amount: $82.500.00 Accounts: Museum 25 490-5241-18B146-2110-B2300 - $42,500.00 School 18 490-5241-18B147-2110-B2300 - $40,000.00 Scope: To provide coaching and professional development services concerning the use of the Thinking Maps framework, as a means of promoting pedagogical growth in teachers and enhanced academic student performance Thinking Maps are an evidence-based language for learning. It assists learners in thinking about thinking, so as to determine the type of cognitive challenge a problem presents. The framework is aligned to eight fundamental thinking skills. Learning to think in the manner in which the brain categorizes and classifies information, results in more equitable access to, and explicit teaching of, higher order thinking tools for every learner. This request is to enter into a contract with The Balance Between, Inc. pursuant to which they will provide three (3) days each of combined on-site professional development for teachers, and coaching support for identified school-based trainers,at Museum 25 and School 18. Writing and Training course at Museum 25(Setting the Stage & Narrative - 3 days) at a cost not to exceed $42,500.00, and School 18 Writing and Training course (Setting the Stage & Narrative - 3 days) at a cost not to exceed $40,000.00 Vendor: The Balance Between, Inc. 225 E. 86th Street Suite 801 New York, NY 10028 Term: 2017-2018

WHEREAS, the Administration wishes to develop additional capacity for supporting the teaching and learning of higher order thinking skills through the use of Thinking Maps, and, WHEREAS, the Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with The Balance Between, Inc. to provide these services, and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with The Balance Between, Inc. at a cost not to exceed $82,500.00.
