Rationale:
|
Via Resolution 17.5 at their stated meeting on January 20, 2016 the Board of Trustees awarded a requirements contract to Sammel Architects, PLLC, (Sammel) for an amount not to exceed $1 million and later amended to $1.5 million under Resolution 16.4 at the September 19, 2017 stated meeting. This resolution is to assign the following specific capital work under that contract.
Sammel will be providing the professional Architectural/Engineering services required for permitting, bid documents, bidding & negotiations, and construction administration. This task was not issued for RFP due to Sammel having performed the initial surveys and reports for the restoration of the school’s gymnasium and site storm drainage work omitted from 2014 CIP 10463 restoration of windows, doors, masonry and roof project.
This project is estimated and will be authorized for $2,500,000.00. The City capital bonds will cover $263,384 for the above soft costs and the remaining $2,236,616.00 for construction related work will be funded by future bond sales. Scope of work will include but not be limited to: masonry façade and roof repairs, site and storm drainage restoration work to mitigate flooding of the school’s gymnasium ground floor classrooms, restoration of the flooring, ceilings, lighting, doors and interior paint finishes for the gymnasium and ground floor classrooms, and related asbestos abatement.
Construction is anticipated for summer 2020.

Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS: under Resolution 17.5 at the stated meeting on January 20, 2016, the Board of Education authorized the award of a requirements based, professional Architectural/Engineering services contract to Sammel Architects, PLLC in response to District RFQ313 Architectural & Engineering Services for the School Facilities Management Department” for an amount not to exceed $1 million, and
WHEREAS: work as defined under that contract is required for capital project 10845 “Restoration of Building Envelope, Interiors, Site & Security” at School 16, and
WHEREAS: the response by Sammel Architecture, PLLC to a request for proposal issued by the Facilities Department was deemed most advantageous to the District at a cost not to exceed $263,384.00, and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Schools is hereby authorized to appoint Sammel Architecture, PLLC, 332 Route 100, Somers, NY 10589 to the task of providing professional Architectural/Engineering services for capital project 10845 “Reconstruction of Building Envelope, Interiors, Site & Security” at School 16 as per District for an amount of $263,384 under Contract No. 617161“Architectural & Engineering Services for the School Facilities Management Department”
