Rationale: LEGO Brand Retail, Inc. D/B/A LEGO Education North America
Term: September 2019 – June 2020
Amount: $30,594.80
Scope: LEGO Education is the sole source provider of LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3, WeDo 2.0, and professional development through the LEGO Education Academy. This resolution would provide professional development and WeDo 2.0 kits to the schools participating in the Learning Technology Grant. The professional development will be offered to teachers between September 2019 through June 2020 and will focus on developing a curriculum with LEGO robotics embedded. The WeDo 2.0 kits will help support technology instruction throughout the schools and used for FIRST LEGO League Jr. Competitions.

Resolution: WHEREAS the Board of Education wishes to enter into an agreement with LEGO Education to purchase supplies and professional development to support technology instruction for the 2019-2020 school year,

WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with LEGO Brand Retail, Inc. D/B/A LEGO Education North America, a program which meets the objectives set forth by the Board and the New York State Education Department, and,

WHEREAS the District has determined that these services can best be provided by LEGO Brand Retail, Inc. D/B/A LEGO Education North America, and,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with LEGO Brand Retail, Inc. D/B/A LEGO Education North America at a cost not to exceed $30,594.80.

It is acknowledged and agreed that pursuant to the terms of that certain intermunicipal agreement by and between the City of Yonkers Board of Education (“BOE”) and the City of Yonkers (the “City”) as filed in the Office of the City Clerk on June 16, 2014, the terms of this agreement are subject to review and revision by the Corporation Counsel, as well as approval by the City’s Board of Contract and Supply. Furthermore, this Agreement shall not be enforceable until signed by both parties and approved by the Corporation Counsel’s Office.
