Mystery Science Term 7/1/2020 - 6/30/2021 Curriculum Amount: $15,968 Lab Packs: $127,845 Scope: Mystery Science will provide the K-5 science curriculum and supply packs for elementary teachers districtwide. Mystery Science is aligned with the New York State Science Learning Standards and encourages students to engage in inquiry-based activities. Engineering principles using household items is infused throughout the curriculum. Teachers have access to assessments, reading materials, and a variety of other resources (in both English and Spanish) to support a comprehensive science program and instruction. The cost of this service is supported through CAI Software Capital Funds, eligible for 100% State Aid reimbursement (Computer Assisted Instruction) and the General Fund (lab packs)

Resolution:

WHEREAS the Board of Education wishes to enter into a contract with Mystery Science to purchase the K-5 NYS standards-based science curriculum for the Yonkers Public Schools for the 2020-2021 school year, WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with Mystery Science a program which meets the objectives set forth by the Board and the New York State Education Dept., and, WHEREAS the Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Mystery Science to provide these services, and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Mystery Science at a cost not to exceed $143,813. It is acknowledged and agreed that pursuant to the terms of that certain intermunicipal agreement by and between the City of Yonkers (the "City") as filed in the Office of the City Clerk on June 16, 2014, the terms of this agreement are subject to review and revision by the Corporation Counsel, as well as approval by the City's Board of Contract and Supply. Furthermore, this Agreement shall not be enforceable until signed by both parties and approved by the Corporation Counsel's Office.
