Rationale:
|
On July 19, 2017, the Board of Trustees approved Board Report ITEM 18.9 for the initial (preliminary) approval of the Preliminary Smart Schools Investment Plan (SSIP) for the modernization of facilities for pre-K programs and classroom trailers at School 30.
In accordance with the guidelines of the SSBA, the plan was then posted on the District’s website on or about August 1, 2017 for the requisite 30 days of public exposure. It is then to be presented by the Board of Trustees at a Public Hearing for any public comments. The Board then is at liberty to issue a final approval of the preliminary plan.
This resolution is being presented to garner the Final Board of Education approval of the Preliminary Smart Schools Investment Plan (SSIP) for School 30 post public comment period and public hearing.
Once approved by the Board of Trustees, the District will finalize and submit its SSIP application for School 30 for approval by New York State. The District will work with the COY Finance Department to determine the applicable funding line(s) in support of the project which will include purchase plan and will submit the required documentation for reimbursement of the expenditures. |

Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS: the District Smart School Bond Act Committee, comprised of requisite individuals developed a Preliminary Smart Schools Investment plan to “construct, enhance and modernize facilities for pre-K programs & replace classroom trailers” at School 30, and
WHEREAS: this proposal for was presented to the BOE Facilities Committee at their June 19, 2017 meeting in a document entitled “Public School 30” by Greenman-Pedersen, Inc and Michael Shilale Architects dated June 20th, 2017, and
WHEREAS: this proposal for the Preliminary Smart Schools Investment Plan (Facilities) was approved by the Board of Trustees via ITEM 18.9 on July 19, 2017, and
WHEREAS: this proposal was posted on the District’s website on or about August 1, 2017, and
WHEREAS: the Board of Trustees presented this plan to the public after being posted on the district website, at a public hearing held on January 17, 2018, and
WHEREAS: no compelling negative comments were garnered at this public hearing
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Yonkers Board of Education authorizes the Final Approval of this Preliminary Smart School Investment Plan and authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to submit the application as required to “construct, enhance and modernize facilities for pre-K programs & replace classroom trailers” at School 30 as presented to the BOE Facilities Committee at their June 20, 2017 meeting entitled “School 30” by Greenman-Pedersen, Inc and Michael Shilale Architects. |
