Rationale:
|
This resolution is to grant the administration the authority to enter into contract as described above. In compliance with General Municipal Law 103, this contract was let for public and bids were opened in public and read aloud on September 29, 2017. Bids were examined and all due diligence observed in determining the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. A total of 5 bids were received ranging up to $1,940,378 and averaging $1,803,200 including all alternates. The work was designed by Sammel Architecture, PLLC. Their engineer’s estimate is $1,995,000. The apparent first low bidder was Avanti Building Construction at $ 1,567,870.00. However it was determined that they did not meet the minimum specified experience requirements and were deemed a non-responsive bidder. The apparent second low bidder, The LandTek Group, Inc., was interviewed and all due diligence was taken to verify that they met the specified experience requirements, were comfortable with the work and their bid. Sammel Architects and the department recommend award of this contract to LandTek as the confirmed lowest responsive and responsible bidder. This CONTRACT 1 of 5, GENERAL CONSTRUCTION SITE WORK includes the installation of a new artificial turf surface for the football/soccer/lacrosse field, goals, scoreboard, select sidewalk replacement, select new fencing and asphalt paving. Overall, CIP CIP10742 provides for new artificial turf athletic field, rehabilitation of select portions of roofing and masonry, restoration of the auditorium and select locker and toilet rooms as well as related asbestos abatement. FOCUS POPULATION: The stakeholders of the Roosevelt High School. ASSESSMENT PROCESS: The School Facilities Management, Architect Sammel Architecture, PLLC, and Construction Manager (to be determined) will be inspecting the contractor’s work and monitoring the construction schedule through on-site inspections, biweekly progress meetings and record keeping.
