Rationale:
|
This resolution is to grant the administration the authority to enter into contract as described above. In compliance with General Municipal Law 103, this contract was let for public bid and bids were opened in public February 15, 2019, bid were rejected and the contract was let for re-bid bid and were opened and read out loud in public March 22, 2019. Bids were examined and all due diligence observed in determining the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
A total of 4 bids were received with the highest bid at $238,000 and average bid of $200,775. The work was designed by Eisenbach & Ruhnke Engineering, P.C. who estimated Contract 3 work be $220,000.
RLJ was interviewed and it was determined that they understood the scope of work, their bids were found to be correct, and that the firm had a history of performance with the designer, construction manager and this department. As a result the subject contract award is hereby being recommended.
CONTRACT 4 of 4, ELECTRCAL includes but is not limited performing all electrical work associated with replacing boilers, heat & ventilating units, exhaust fans and exterior lighting controls. Alternate Bid 1 work includes tracing all electrical panel(s) circuits, from the panel to end devices and labeling.
The overall scope of work for CIP10816 includes four separate construction contracts which include but is not necessarily limited to replacement of the boiler heat plant, unit ventilators, exhaust fans, HVAC controls, natural gas supply line, exterior lighting controls, removal of existing underground fuel oil storage tank, library renovation and any related asbestos abatement work. The estimated cost for this work is $3.1 million and the actual four construction contracts to be recommended for award totals $2.84 million. |

WHEREAS: bids were issued for public advertisement and opened on March 22, 2019 in compliance with General Municipal Law for Re-Bid No. 6354A ELECTRICAL Work, CONTRACT 4 OF 4 for the “Boiler System Replacement and Asbestos Abatement” at School 9 Project No. 10816, and
WHEREAS: such bids were duly examined and as a result of this examination of the bids submitted, the administration has determined that RLJ Electric Corporation, is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder with a bid of $174,900.00.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that Re-Bid No. 6354A ELECTRICAL Work, Contract 4 of 4, for Project No. 10816 “Boiler System Replacement and Asbestos Abatement” at School 9 be awarded to RLJ Electric Corporation, 860 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY in an amount not to exceed $174,900.00 for a term of 365 calendar days. |
