Rationale:
|
This resolution is to grant the administration the authority to enter into contract as described above. In compliance with General Municipal Law 103, this contract was let for public and bids were opened in public and read aloud on November 17, 2017. Bids were examined and all due diligence observed in determining the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
A total of 2 bids were received. The winning bid at $294,000.00 and the second bid at $345,175.00
After interviewing the apparent low bidder and confirming that they understood the scope of work, bids were found to be correct, and the firm has a satisfactory history with the district it is recommended that this award be made to Sun-Dance Energy Contractors., d/b/a/Markley Mechanical, for the amount of $294,000.00.
This is a one year service contract for licensed plumbing services under a time and materials basis for the conversion of select schools buildings from No. 2 fuel oil to Con Ed supplied natural gas.
The contractor will be performing all of the logistical, paperwork and plumbing construction requirements of Con Ed for the purpose converting school buildings to gas. The contractor will also be assisting the District in determining which schools can be converted most efficiently with the District’s consulting engineers.
This has to be a requirements contract because of the unpredictability of the timing and scope of work at any school required by Con Ed who requires that a licensed plumber be signed prior to the start of DESIGN work.

WHEREAS: in compliance with NYS General Municipal Law 103 bids were duly solicited, opened in public and read aloud on November 17, 2017 for Bid 6210 “Plumbing Work for the Conversion of Yonkers Public School Facilities From No. 2 Fuel Oil to Con-Ed Natural Gas” and,
WHEREAS: two bids were received with Sun-Dance Energy Contractors., d/b/a/Markley Mechanical, having the lowest responsive and responsible bid of $294,000.00
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the Superintendent of Schools is authorized to enter into a contract for Bid No. 6119 “Plumbing Work for the Conversion of Yonkers Public School Facilities From No. 2 Fuel Oil to Con-Ed Natural Gas” with Sun-Dance Energy Contractors., d/b/a/Markley Mechanical, 424 Central Avenue, Peekskill, NY 10566 for an amount not to exceed $294,000 for a term of 365 calendar days.
