Rationale:
|
This resolution is to grant the administration the authority to enter into contract as described above. In compliance with General Municipal Law 103, bids were let and opened in public March 13, 2019. Bids were examined and all due diligence observed in determining the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. A total of 4 bids were received with the highest bid at $1,487,228 and average bid of $1,284,140. The work was designed by Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. who estimated Contract 3 work be $1,073,179. After interviewing the apparent low bidder and confirming that they understood the scope of work, bids were found to be correct GPI, Savin Engineers, and Schools Facilities Management are recommending the award of the subject contract. CONTRACT 2 of 5, GC SITE and INTERIOR Work includes the restoration of the cafeteria and select toilet rooms as well as select site restoration work. APS’s interior work includes but is not limited to replacement of flooring, ceilings and interior doors, ceramic tile for bathrooms, interior painting and requisite asbestos abatement. APS’s site work includes restoration of select storm drains, hand rails, and retaining walls. Overall, CIP10813 includes but is not be limited to: new window & shades, select exterior door replacement, new PA system, cafeteria and select toilet room renovation, new high tech security system; exterior building lighting improvements; site improvements, gym HVAC & lighting and requisite asbestos abatement. The overall cost of this project is roughly $5 million. The original bid included alternates for further renovation of the gymnasium including drainage, flooring, lighting, paint, wall padding and gym equipment. These alternates were rejected because they are beyond the reach of current budgeting.

Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS: bids were issued for public advertisement and opened on March 13, 2019 in compliance with General Municipal Law for Bid No. 6326 GENERAL CONSTRUCTION SITE & INTERIOR Work, CONTRACT 2 OF 5 for the “Restoration of Windows, Doors, Interiors, Security, Site and Asbestos Abatement” at School 5 Project No. 10813, and WHEREAS: such bids were duly examined and as a result of this examination of the bids submitted, the administration has determined that APS Contracting, Inc., is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder with a bid of $1,138,000.00. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that Bid No. 6326 GENERAL CONSTRUCTION SITE & INTERIOR, Contract 2 of 5, for Project No. 10813 “Restoration of Windows, Doors, Interiors, Security, Site and Asbestos Abatement” at School 5 Project to APS Contracting, Inc., 155-61 Pennsylvania Ave., Paterson, NJ, 07503 in an amount not to exceed $1,138,000.00 for a term of 365 calendar days.
