Amount: $77,571.20
Scope: To provide 2018-19 funding for science equipment, materials and resources for the Yonkers Public Schools district. The purchase of 70 Lakeshore Learning Science Activity Tubs Model #DD350X and 70 Lakeshore Learning Maker Space Mobile Project Carts Model #LC935X will allow teachers to develop 3-dimensional lessons with engineering tasks that are aligned with the NYS science learning standards. These supplies will support the MSP grant’s goal of providing equitable and rigorous STEM instruction in middle school. GML103 - Bid #RFB-6320-A Opened on 11/28/18. The Department recommends an award to Lakeshore Equipment Company d/b/a Lakeshore Learning Materials in the amount of $77, 571.20. Lakeshore Learning Materials has met the MWBE requirement of the Bid (30% overall goal of contract amount TBD).
Star Bright Books and Lee & Low Books Inc. are WBE Subcontractors/Suppliers and intend to provide supplies in connection with the Procurement RFB-6320-A.

Resolution:

WHEREAS the Board of Education wishes to enter into a contract with Lakeshore Equipment Company dba Lakeshore Learning Materials (M/WBE intending to provide supplies are Lee & Low Books Inc. and Star Bright Books) to purchase maker space kits and activity tubs for the Yonkers Public Schools district for the 2018-2019 school year,
WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with Lakeshore Equipment Company dba Lakeshore Learning Materials (M/WBE intending to provide supplies are Lee & Low Books Inc. and Star Bright Books) a program which meets the objectives set forth by the Board and the New York State Education Department, and
WHEREAS the Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Lakeshore Equipment Company dba Lakeshore Learning Materials (M/WBE intending to provide supplies are Lee & Low Books Inc. and Star Bright Books) to provide these services, and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Lakeshore Equipment Company dba Lakeshore Learning Materials (M/WBE intending to provide supplies are Lee & Low Books Inc. and Star Bright Books) at a cost not to exceed $77,571.20
It is acknowledged and agreed that pursuant to the terms of that certain intermunicipal agreement by and between the City of Yonkers Board of Education (“BOE”) and the City of Yonkers (the “City”) as filed in the Office of the City Clerk on June 16, 2014, the terms of this agreement are subject to review and revision by the Corporation Counsel, as well as approval by the City’s Board of Contract and Supply. Furthermore, this Agreement shall not be enforceable until signed by both parties and approved by the Corporation Counsel’s Office.
