Rationale: Via Resolution 17.5 at their stated meeting on January 20, 2016 the Board of Trustees awarded a requirements contract to KG&D Architects and four other shortlisted firms for an amount not to exceed $1 million per firm. RFP 420-17-01 was issued to these five firms and upon examination KG&D has been determined to be the best fit for this particular project.

This resolution is to amend the task of providing professional architectural and engineering study, survey and design for the feasibility of the district using St Denis Parochial School fronting on Maclean Avenue at Lawrence Street, for use as one of the Yonkers Public Schools.

The amendment is to cover the cost to provide additional District directed work of adding the Convent and the Rectory building (and to some extent the Church building) to the feasibility study.

This study will include and extensive building condition survey performed by professional architects, engineers and environmental specialists. Educational planners will work with the administration to see how to best use the existing configuration and/or design a reconfiguration to meet the needs of the District.

This will result in a report including the plans for two or more configurations, estimates of the cost, a discussion on scheduling and building aid projections.

This will be done for the fee of $11,500. Miscellaneous additional activities such as bulk sampling & testing for asbestos inspections, soil sampling and pipe inspections required to obtain minimum information for the report, if needed, will be paid directly out of the existing contingency of $5,000.00.

WHEREAS: under Resolution 17.5 at the stated meeting on January 20, 2016, the Board of Education authorized the award of a requirements based, professional Architectural/Engineering services contract to KG&D Architects in response to District RFQ 313 “Architectural & Engineering Services for the School Facilities Management Department” for an amount not to exceed $1 million, and

WHEREAS: a request was issued by the Facilities Department to solicit a proposal for the professional Architectural/Engineering services for the Feasibility Study for St Denis Parochial School, and

WHEREAS: examination of the response indicates that KG&D Architects is best suited for this particular task at a cost not to exceed $23,500.00, and

WHEREAS: additional work is required by the District to explore the potential uses for the Convent and the Rectory buildings, and

WHEREAS: the response by KG&D to the request for the additional work issued by the Facilities Department was deemed most advantageous to the District at a cost not to exceed $11,500.00 This will increase PO 2018-2268 issued for $23,500 against master contract 617160 from $23,500.00 to $35,000.00.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Schools is hereby authorized to amend PO 2018-2268 with KG&D Architects, 285 Main Street, Mt. Kisco, New York 10549 issued for $23,500 against master contract 617160 from $23,500.00 to $35,000.00.
