Information Technology Department – GML 104B Follett (Sole Source Provider) Term – July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019 Amount of Subscription – $48,671.65 Account Number – 130-5999-B18N02-1000-B2050 (CAI Software Capital Funds) Project Code - B5303CN110834.B18N02.B2540A2630 Scope - The Technology Department continues to work closely with Library Services and the Division of Teaching and Learning, in an effort to ensure the standardization of school based Library Media Centers District-wide. The purchase of hardware, as required, and software has advanced this process by enabling the electronic cataloging of all Library resources. Beginning in July of 2013, with the adoption of Board Report 17.3 at the April 17, 2013 Board of Education Stated Meeting, the District began the conversion process of the previous Library Automation system, to Follett Destiny. This system has provided our school Libraries with the tools needed to facilitate a better approach to library automation. Destiny provides features that are not currently available in other systems. For example, Destiny provides an integrated eBook management system, data management reports, a database containing over 11 million Machine Readable Cataloging (MARC) records, alignment of collection to Common Core or State Standards, automatic import and updates of student information and the ability to upload self-created content into MARC records, which supports several existing grant opportunities, to name a few. This resolution will provide for the continuation of the service for the 2018-2019 school year. This purchase is eligible for CAI Software reimbursement at 100%.

Resolution:
|
WHEREAS the Yonkers Public Schools seeks to renew our current Library Automation System subscription, Follett’s Destiny Resource Management Solution, for all Library Media Centers throughout the District, and, WHEREAS this system provides the District with a feature rich solution that enhances the way our libraries conduct business. Many of the features built into the Destiny system are not currently available in any other Library Automation System, including eBook Management as well as reporting capabilities. Destiny is a hosted Internet based system and eliminates the need for dedicated server hardware in the schools, while providing Union Catalog access to all schools and update capabilities for 24 libraries District-wide, and, WHEREAS the District recognizes that the renewal of this subscription will ensure the continued standardization of each Library, thereby affording the students and staff an easier, more extensive and consistent experience while accessing and using the Library’s resources, and, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Purchasing Agent for the Yonkers Public Schools issue a purchase order to Follett Software Company, the sole source provider of the Destiny Resource Management Solution, in the amount of $48,671.65 to continue the District’s Library Automation System subscription, and provide service and support from July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019.
