Rationale:
|
This resolution is to grant the administration the authority to enter into contract as described above. In compliance with General Municipal Law 103, this contract was let for public and bids were opened in public and read aloud on October 6, 2017. Bids were examined and all due diligence observed in determining the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
A total of 4 bids were received ranging up to $1,050,000 and averaging $950,096. APS Contracting, Inc. bid $830,000. There were no alternates bid for Contract 2. The work was designed by Sammel Architecture, PLLC who estimated it to be $1.1M.
APS was interviewed and all due diligence was taken to verify that they met the specified experience requirements, were comfortable with the work and their bid. Sammel Architects and the department recommend award of this contract to Milcon as the confirmed lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
Overall, CIP CIP10745 provides for a new roof, repointed and sealed masonry, new exterior doors, new high tech security, relocation of the main office, lighting upgrades, sidewalk & drainage improvements, plaster work and painting.
Contract 2 of 5, INTERIOR & SITE WORK includes all general construction work related to relocating the main office from 2nd to 1st floor to improve access to the entrance; including partitions, ceilings, flooring, finishes, replacement of exterior and vestibule doors, new handicap entrance at rear of building, paving existing parking lot and abatement of main office flooring, ceiling and auditorium crawlspace.

WHEREAS: such bids were duly examined and as a result of this examination of the bids submitted, the administration has determined that APS Contracting, Inc., is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder with a bid of $830,000
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that Bid No. 6192 GC INTERIOR & SITE Contract 2 of 5, for Project No. 10745 “Reconstruction of Portions of the Building Envelope, Interior Finishes and Site Work” at Paideia School 24 to APS Contracting, Inc., 155-161 Pennsylvania Avenue, Paterson, NJ 07503, in an amount not to exceed $830,000, for a term of 365 calendar days.
