Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS, The Yonkers Kiwanis Club, Yonkers Board of Education Trustees and Mayor Mike Spano jointly sponsored the City's 2017-2018 Yonkers Public Schools Teachers of the Year Awards. Established by the Yonkers Kiwanis Club and the Board of Education in 1954, followed by the Board’s adoption of the Teacher Hall of Fame on July 13, 1978, the award celebrates Yonkers teachers who further excellence in education.
WHEREAS Afsaneh Parandian has been selected as Teacher of the Year 2017 - 2018 and shall be permanently honored in the Teacher Hall of Fame of the Yonkers City School District, and
WHEREAS Mrs. Parandian joined the Yonkers Schools District in 1998 at School 30 as a prekindergarten teacher, the multicultural magnet teacher and in her current position as a kindergarten teacher for the past sixteen years.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That Afsaneh Parandian an outstanding educator and professional, a mentor and friend to students and teachers, be permanently honored as Teacher of the Year 2017 - 2018.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That it is with great pleasure that the Board of Education of the City of Yonkers joins the Kiwanis Club of Yonkers and Mayor Mike Spano in bestowing this honor on a truly dedicated teacher who works both in and out of the classroom to support high quality education for the children of Yonkers:
