Rationale:
|
This resolution is to grant the administration the authority to enter into the subject contract. In compliance with General Municipal Law 103, this contract was let for public and bids were opened in public and read aloud on May 11, 2018. Bids were examined and all due diligence observed in determining the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
A total of 4 bid were received ranging from $1,284,000 to $1,944,000 including Alternate 1. The work was designed by Sammel Architecture, PLLC who estimated the GC & SITE work to be $1,500,000.
After interviewing the lowest responsive bidder and confirming that they understood the scope of work, their bid was found to be correct, and the firm has performed satisfactorily for the Yonkers Public Schools. Schools Facilities Management is recommending this award.
This Contract 1 of 3, General Construction & Site Work is for the replacement of windows, exterior doors, site work, parking lot curb replacement and drainage improvements.
Overall, CIP10817 replaces the balance of windows and exterior doors, install a new security system which includes CCTV, door access controls, video recording, data closet cooling, lighting control modifications, and related asbestos abatement. Site work will include drainage improvements and new curbing.
This project falls under the NYS Wicks Law requiring the District award separate contracts for different trades. This project has three (3) contracts: GC, HVAC and Electrical. Bids for HVAC were not received and that portion will be re-bid immediately. HVAC work is limited and not on the critical path to complete the above work.

WHEREAS: bids were issued for public advertisement and opened on May 11, 2018 in compliance with General Municipal Law for Bid No. 6275 General Construction & Site Work for CIP10817 “Exterior Envelope, Windows, Doors, Site and Security Improvements” at the William Boyce Thompson School, and
WHEREAS: such bids were duly examined and as a result of this examination of the bids submitted, the administration has determined that SMAC Corp. is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder with a bid of $1,284,000.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that Bid No. 6275 CIP10817 General Construction & Site Work Contract 1 of 3 “Exterior Envelope, Windows, Doors, Site and Security Improvements” at the William Boyce Thompson School to SMAC Corp, 27 East 33RD Street, Paterson, NJ 07514 in an amount not to exceed $1,284,000 for a term of 365 calendar days.
