Rationale:
|
This resolution is to grant the administration the authority to enter into contract as described above. In compliance with General Municipal Law 103, bids were let and opened in public November 1, 2019. Bids were examined and all due diligence observed in determining the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
The General Construction contract originally let for bid under IFB-6404 tendered no bids. The Re-Bid IFB-6404A resulted in a total of 6 bids received, with the highest bid at $275,000 and average bid of $184,008.
The work was designed by Fuller and D’Angelo, P.C., Architects and was estimated to be approximately $125,000.
After interviewing the apparent low bidder and confirming that they understood the scope of work, bids were found to be correct Fuller and D’Angelo, P.C., Architects, Savin Engineers, and Schools Facilities Management are recommending the award of the subject contract to Costas Construction, Inc.
The GENERAL CONSTRUCTION Work is for the restoration of the settling basement hallway floor slab and includes select concrete slab replacement and replacement of the entire hallway vinyl composition floor tile and cove base. This work is schedule to be completed during the summer of 2020.

WHEREAS: bids were issued for public advertisement and opened on November 1, 2019 in compliance with General Municipal Law for Bid No. 6404A GENERAL CONSTRUCTION Work for the “Basement Hallway Floor Restoration” at Gorton High School Project No. 10858, and
WHEREAS: such bids were duly examined and as a result of this examination of the bids submitted, the administration has determined that Costas Construction, Inc., is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder with a bid of $92,750.00.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that Bid No. 6404A GENERAL, for Project No. 10858 “Basement Hallway Floor Restoration” at Gorton High School Project to Costas Construction, Inc., 401 Sawmill River Road, Yonkers, NY 10701 in an amount not to exceed $92,750.00 for a term of 365 calendar days.
