Rationale:
|
This resolution is to grant the administration the authority to enter into contract as described above. In compliance with General Municipal Law 103, bids were let and opened in public November 8, 2019. Bids were examined and all due diligence observed in determining the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
The Plumbing & General Construction contract originally let for bid under IFB-6400 tendered no bids. The Re-Bid IFB-6400A resulted in a total of 3 bids received, with the highest bid at $689,592,000 and average bid of $615,530.
The work was designed by Sammel Architecture, PLLC and was estimated to be approximately $450,000.
After interviewing the apparent low bidder and confirming that they understood the scope of work, bids were found to be correct Sammel Architecture, PLLC, Savin Engineers, and Schools Facilities Management are recommending the award of the subject contract to Mengler Mechanical, Inc.
The PLUMBING & GENERAL CONSTRUCTION Work is for the gas conversion of the Schools 1926 addition boiler heating plant from number 2 fuel oil to all gas. This work includes the installation of all new gas distribution piping inside the school to feed kitchen equipment gas main and new boiler gas main, 3 new boiler gas trains, and all site excavating, trenching, back fill and restoration.
Under the Emergency Declaration for CIP 10815, 10816 & 10851 for Plumbing Gas Conversions the Con-Edison and site gas utility upgrades (from the street to the building) is being performed by Sun-Dance Energy Contractors.
This work is schedule to be completed during the summer of 2020

WHEREAS: bids were issued for public advertisement and opened on November 8, 2019 in compliance with General Municipal Law for Bid No. 6400A PLUMBING & GENERAL CONSTRUCTION Work for the “Gas Conversion” at Roosevelt High School Project No. 10851, and
WHEREAS: such bids were duly examined and as a result of this examination of the bids submitted, the administration has determined that Mengler Mechanical, Inc., is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder with a bid of $566,000.00.
