Rationale:
|
This resolution is to grant the administration the authority to enter into contract as described above. In compliance with General Municipal Law 103, bids were let and opened in public March 13, 2019. Bids were examined and all due diligence observed in determining the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
Pearl River Plumbing Heating & Electric, Inc. (d/b/a Bertussi’s) was the sole bidder for the plumbing contract bid. The work was designed by Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. who estimated Contract 4 work be $279,707.
After interviewing the apparent low bidder and confirming that they understood the scope of work, bids were found to be correct, and the work history with the District, GPI, Savin Engineers and School Facilities Management are recommending award of this contract to Bertussi for the amount of $267,425.00, excluding bid Alternate 1.
This scope of CONTRACT 4 of 5, PLUMBING includes the replacement of plumbing fixtures and related piping for select boys & girl’s gang bathrooms and limited sprinkler piping alterations required for the Cafeteria renovation.
Overall, CIP10813 includes but is not be limited to: new window & shades, select exterior door replacement, new PA system, cafeteria and select toilet room renovation, new high tech security system; exterior building lighting improvements; site improvements, gym HVAC & lighting and requisite asbestos abatement. The overall cost of this project is roughly $5 million.
The original bid included alternates for further renovation of the gymnasium including drainage, flooring, lighting, paint, wall padding and gym equipment. These alternates were rejected because they are beyond the reach of current budgeting.

WHEREAS: such bids were duly examined and as a result of this examination of the bids submitted, the administration has determined that Pearl River Plumbing Heating & Electric, Inc. (d/b/a Bertussi’s), is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder with a bid of $267,425.00.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that Bid No. 6326 PLUMBING, Contract 4 of 5, for Project No. 10813 “Restoration of Windows, Doors, Interiors, Security, Site and Asbestos Abatement” at School 5 Project to Pearl River Plumbing Heating & Electric, Inc. (d/b/a Bertussi’s), 60-70 Dexter Plaza, Pearl River, NY 10965 in an amount not to exceed $267,425.00 for a term of 365 calendar days.
