Rationale:
|
This is to award a plumbing construction contract as referenced above as per the attached emergency declaration issued by the Superintendent on April 8, 2019. Bids are not required under an emergency declaration.
Markley Mechanical was selected because of they have a standing contract and satisfactory history with the District. They also possess the requisite plumbing certificates for performing work on Con-Ed gas lines. Service to include repairs to the gas meter rig and the replacement of mechanical with welded fittings.
The original estimate for the work was a range from $10,000 to $50,000. The final cost of the project is $18,500 which includes a $1,000 fee for Barile Gallagher Associate Engineers to inspect, witness and issue sign-off for obtaining Con-Edison approvals.

Ladies and Gentlemen;
WHEREAS: An Emergency Declaration was issued on April 8, 2019 for Gas Line Repairs at Museum School 25, and
WHEREAS: Under this emergency declaration the District solicited plumbing construction work for the prompt repairs to leaking gas line, and
WHEREAS: Sun-Dance Energy Contractors, Inc. (d/b/a Markley Mechanical) indicated that they were capable, certified and ready to make such improvements in the shortest time frame, certifying that they would work around the school’s operations and schedule, and
WHEREAS: the District has a substantial successful history with Markley Mechanical, and
WHEREAS: Markley Mechanical has indicated that the maximum cost to the District of the work that they are directed to perform is not to exceed $17,500.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the Superintendent of Schools is hereby authorized to award the above contract to Sun-Dance Energy Contractors, Inc. (d/b/a Markley Mechanical), 425 Central Avenue, Peekskill, NY 10566 in the amount of $17,500 for a term of 183 calendar days.
