Rationale: As required, Yonkers Public Schools Board of Education is requesting to enter into an Emergency Contract for Athletics transportation as per RFB#6834 - to First Student INC as per Emergency contract term 1: 09/08/2022 thru 10/09/2022, Projected amount not to Exceed $100,000.00 ; Emergency Contract term 2: 10/10/2022 thru 11/11/2022, Projected amount not to Exceed $100,000.00.

Resolution: WHEREAS on September 12, 2022, the Superintendent of Schools approved an Emergency Declaration request for the Transportation Department to continue to support the 2022-2023 Athletics Program, as our school district is experiencing the effects of the nationwide school bus vehicle and driver shortage, and

WHEREAS despite issuing two competitive bids in 2022 (RFB 6834 and RFP 459) which resulted in the School District partnering with five vendors, there are not enough buses to cover our routing and transportation needs, and

WHEREAS New York State Education department agreed to allow the emergency contract on a monthly basis with the stipulation that Yonkers Public Schools will release a bid to enter into full academic year contracts, and

WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with the Purchasing Department a contract which meets the objectives set forth by the Board and the New York State Education Department, and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an emergency agreement with First Student INC at a cost not to exceed $100,000 PER EACH contract term.
