Rationale:
|
This is a one year requirements contract for licensed plumbing services under a time and materials basis for the conversion of select schools from fuel oil to natural gas.
This was publically bid per NYSGML 103 and awarded to Markley Mechanical via Board Resolution 16.8 on March 22, 2018 and the BOCS on April 5, 2018. The contract specifications provide for annual extension by the mutual consent of both parties under the same terms and conditions of the original contract for up to two additional years and is hereby being extended for the first time.
As of the termination date of year one, roughly $150,000 has been expensed. Second year efforts may be higher as long term plans are permitted by Con Ed.
The contractor will be performing all of the logistical paperwork and plumbing construction requirements of Con Ed. The contractor will also be assisting the District in determining which schools can be converted most efficiently with the District’s consulting engineers.

Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS: bid 6210 were solicited and opened on November 17, 2017, in compliance with General Municipal Law for “Plumbing Work for the Conversion of Yonkers Public School Facilities From No. 2 Fuel Oil to Con-Ed Natural Gas” in Yonkers Public Schools as a result of an examination of the bids submitted, the administration recommended the award to the lowest responsible bidder, and
WHEREAS: Board Item 16.8, dated March 22, 2018, was approved awarding a contract to Sun-Dance Energy Contractors., d/b/a/Markley Mechanical in the amount of $294,000, and
WHEREAS: bid specifications provide for annual extensions by the mutual consent of both parties under the same terms and conditions of the original contract for up to two additional years, and
WHEREAS; the administration recommends the extension of this contract for the second additional year from June 2, 2019 through June 1, 2020.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Schools is hereby authorized to extend Contract No. 2018-00000736 with Sun-Dance Energy Contractors., d/b/a/Markley Mechanical, 424 Central Avenue, Peekskill, NY 10566 at the same cost of $294,000.00.
