Rationale: The contract with PNW BOCES for the integrated Social Studies/ELA curriculum (K-8) for 35 schools in the YPS for the 2018-19 academic year will provide an updated, standards-based curriculum in order to support Social Studies instruction. The curriculum was piloted during the 2017-18 school year in 35 schools.

Resolution: WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with PNW BOCES for the 2018/2019 school year to purchase the K-8 Social Studies/ELA curriculum to support all students and teachers in the 35 YPS with K-8 populations (inclusive of those schools with any of these grade levels). This curriculum meets the district initiative to implement systemic Social Studies classes in all elementary schools in the district this year. It is also aligned to local, state, and national standards. The middle school curriculum has been revised to address the changing Regents exams.

WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with PNW BOCES a curriculum program which meets the objectives set forth by the Board and Superintendent and the New York State Education Department, and,

WHEREAS the Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with PNW BOCES to provide these services, and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with PNW BOCES at a cost not to exceed $17,528.40.
