Rationale:
|
This resolution is to grant the administration the authority to enter into the subject contract. In compliance with General Municipal Law 103, this contract was let for public and bids were opened in public and read aloud on March 29, 2019. Bids were examined and all due diligence observed in determining the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
There were only two bidders, the second low bid is $96,966. Best Climates’ bid at $42,000 is within budget.
This bid has been let three times within a year. First bid yielded zero bidders and the second had only one bidder at 5 times the engineer’s estimate and budget with a bid of $188,188.
After interviewing the low bidder bidder and confirming that they understood the scope of work, their bid was found to be correct, and the firm had performed satisfactorily for the Yonkers Public Schools. Schools Facilities Management along with Sammel Architecture, LLC is recommending this contract award.
Best Climate Control has a successful history with the District.
This CONTRACT 2 of 3, HVAC Work is for the installation of two new “split” air-conditioning units to cool two data closets which support the data lines and security communication lines of the new security system components installed by others.
Overall, CIP10817 replaces the balance of windows and exterior doors, install a new security system which includes CCTV, door access controls, video recording, data closet cooling, lighting control modifications, and related asbestos abatement. Site work will include drainage improvements and new curbing.

WHEREAS: bids were issued for public advertisement and opened on March 29, 2019 in compliance with General Municipal Law for Bid No. 6275C HVAC Work for CIP10817 “Exterior Envelope, Windows, Doors, Site and Security Improvements” at the William Boyce Thompson School, and
WHEREAS: the lowest bid was duly examined and as a result of this examination the administration has determined that Best Climate Control, is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder with a bid of $42,000.00.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that Bid No. 6275C HVAC Work, Contract 2 of 3, for CIP10817 “Exterior Envelope, Windows, Doors, Site and Security Improvements” at the William Boyce Thompson School to Best Climate Control, 75 Orville Drive, Bohemia, NY 11716 in an amount not to exceed $42,000.00 for a term of 365 calendar days.
