Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS, at its October 14, 1986 meeting, the Rotary Club of East Yonkers Board of Directors did develop and institute a LEADERSHIP IN EDUCATION AWARD to be designated annually to an outstanding administrator in the Yonkers Public Schools, who has demonstrated a consistent commitment to quality education and community service, and
WHEREAS, IN 1996 Dr. Don Solimene began his educational career in the Yonkers Public Schools as a 5th grade teacher at Martin Luther King Jr. School; in 1999 he became the school's Science magnet teacher.
Dr. Solimene's administrative career also began at Martin Luther King Jr. School in 2000 as an assistant principal and in 2004 he was assigned to Saunders Trades and Technical High School as an assistant principal. In 2010, Dr. Solimene was promoted to principal at Foxfire School and in 2014 to his current position as principal at Riverside High School.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education extends sincere appreciation and congratulations to Dr. Don Solimene, who continues to serve with distinction with over 23 years in the Yonkers Public Schools; and
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Board of Education joins with the Rotary Club of East Yonkers in presenting the 2018-2019 LEADERSHIP IN EDCUCATION AWARD to Dr. Don Solimene.
