Rationale:
|
This is to award a general construction contract as referenced above as per the attached emergency declaration issued by the Superintendent on September 14, 2017. Bids were not solicited due to urgent need to reopen the classroom and work declared under an emergency.
The term of the contract shall be 180 calendar days starting September 14, 2017.
The scope of work required abatement of 800 square feet of asbestos ceiling tiles. New tiles were installed by YPS Maintenance.
NSC Abatement Services, Inc. was chosen to perform the work because they have performed highly satisfactory work throughout the District.
FOCUS POPULATION: The stakeholders of Cornell Academy.
The School Facilities Management and Environmental Consultant will be inspecting the contractor’s work and monitoring the construction schedule through on-site inspections. The Environmental Consulting firm Adelaide Environmental Health Associates, Inc. will be performing the environmental project monitoring to ensure compliance with NYS DOL Code 56 and EPA AHERA regarding asbestos abatement.

Ladies and Gentlemen;
WHEREAS: An Emergency Declaration was issued on September 14, 2017 for the CEILING TILE ABATEMENT at CORNELL ACADEMY, and
WHEREAS: Under this emergency declaration the Administration selected NSC Abatement Services Inc., a vendor who has highly performed satisfactory abatement work in the District; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That that the Superintendent of Schools is hereby authorized to award the above contract to NSC Abatement Services Inc. 122 East Third Street, Mt. Vernon NY 10550 in an amount not to exceed $20,757.00 for a term of 180 calendar days.
