Hunter Engineering Company
Term: 2017-2018 school year
Amount: $28,802.66
Scope: This purchase is off NYS OGS contract PC67221. Our current curriculum in Automotive Technology includes a stand-alone class in steering/suspension. Students learn how to perform a four-wheel alignment. After Hunter Engineers and our ASE automotive technician carefully examining the current automotive scissor lift that the students have been using for over 15 years at Saunders High School, the current scissor lift shows several signs of significant ware as indicated by the age. Newer vehicles are lower profile by design and can “bottoming out” approach the ramps. The bottoming out of vehicles can jeopardize the integrity of the current scissor lift. The current method of driving the vehicles on the current scissor lift needs to be carefully supervised by our technician. The proposed 21st century Hunter scissor lift accommodates newer vehicles. This will allow our technicians to fully focus on teaching how to properly service vehicle wheel alignments and attend less to vehicle wheel clearance upon mounting on scissor lift ramps. The current scissor lift also does not have any lighting needed for the new alignment equipment purchase school year 2017-18. The complementary scissor lift we are requesting to purchase has led lights that illuminates the bottom of the vehicle and provides a brighter work environment for the students. More important, the current out dated alignment scissor lift machine cannot communicate with our new alignment tower. With this acquisition we will have a 21st century industry leading Fully Integrated Alignment Machine that can communicate with our scissor lift and tell the lift when to turn on the lights, locks slip plates and automatically inflates all four tires simultaneously. Hunter Engineers is the sole provider of these features and have patents on these features that offer flexibility and time saving capabilities.
