Rationale:
|
This resolution is to grant the administration the authority to enter into contract as described above. In compliance with General Municipal Law 103, this contract was let for public and bids were opened in public and read aloud on December 6, 2017. Bids were examined and all due diligence observed in determining the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
A total of 4 bids were received ranging up to $2,083,000 and averaging $1,780,027. Empire Energy Specialists, Inc. (EES) bid $1,436,710. The work was designed by Greenman Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) who estimated it to be $1.45M.
EES was interviewed and all due diligence was taken to verify that they met the specified experience requirements, were comfortable with the work and their bid. Engineer GPI, Construction Manager Savin Engineers and School Facilities Management department recommend award of this contract to EES as the confirmed lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
This CONTRACT 3 of 7, WINDOWS & DOOR WORK is for the replacement of all exterior windows and doors at the school.
Overall, CIP CIP10746 provides for a new roof, repointed and sealed masonry, new exterior doors, new high tech security, select interior classroom upgrades, miscellaneous sidewalk & drainage improvements and related asbestos abatement.

WHEREAS: bids were issued for public advertisement and opened on December 6, 2017 in compliance with General Municipal Law for Bid No. 6206 GC WINDOWS & DOORS Work for the “Reconstruction of Building Envelope, Interior Finishes and Site Work" Project No. 10746 at the Museum School 25, and
WHEREAS: such bids were duly examined and as a result of this examination of the bids submitted, the administration has determined that Empire Energy Specialists, Inc., Yonkers, NY., is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder with a bid of $1,436,710.00.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that Bid No. 6206 GC WINDOWS & DOORS Contract 3 of 7, for Project No. 10746 “Reconstruction of Building Envelope, Interior Finishes and Site Work” at Museum School 25 to Empire Energy Specialists, Inc., 970 Nepperhan Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10703, in an amount not to exceed $1,436,710.00, for a term of 365 calendar days.
