Rationale:
|
Via Resolution 16.2 at their stated meeting on July 11, 2018, the Board of Trustees awarded Sammel Architecture the architectural services for the scope of work that included but not limited to: masonry façade and roof repairs, site and storm drainage restoration work to mitigate flooding of the school’s gymnasium ground floor classrooms, restoration of the flooring, ceilings, lighting, doors and interior paint finishes for the gymnasium and ground floor classrooms, and related asbestos abatement.
This amendment is to provide design, bidding, and construction administration for District directed added work to include a new (replacement) school wide public address system which has recently collapsed but is barely functional. Surveys and tests indicate that all of it, including the building wiring is too old to be rehabilitated and in danger of complete collapse. The most economical way to accomplish this is to add it to this project for installation in the summer of 2020.
Sammel Architecture will perform the said work for $23,000.00. An additional $10,000.00 is added for additional reimbursable services such as asbestos sampling and testing, bringing the total of this amendment to $33,000.00

Ladies and Gentlemen;
WHEREAS: Via Resolution 16.2 at their stated meeting on July 11, 2018, the Board of Trustees, under contract 617161, awarded Sammel Architecture Capital Project 10845, “Reconstruction of Building Envelope, Interiors, Site and Security at School 16”.
WHEREAS: an amendment is required to include additional services to provide a new public address system to the “Reconstruction of Building Envelope, Interiors, Site and Security” at School 16 CIP 10845.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Schools is hereby authorized to amend the existing assignment to Sammel Architecture, PLLC, 332 Route 100, Somers, NY 10589, to provide added professional Architectural/Engineering for CIP10845 “Reconstruction of Building Envelope, Interiors, Site and Security” at School 16 under contract 617161 to Sammel Architecture, PPLC for $33,000.00, increasing the cost of this task from $ 263,384.00 to $296,384.00 for a term of 365 days.
