Rationale: Hudson River Museum
Term: January 2020 – June 30, 2020
Amount: $90,000
Scope: To participate in an After School Grant with the Eugenio Maria de Hostos Microsociety School, supporting its work in Design Thinking with Virtual Enterprise International.
● To introduce students with varied interests and strengths to the wide scope of opportunities for careers in the Arts and Museums, and give them the tools to explore the varied educational and experiential paths to achieve entry into multiple related professions in the not-for-profit and for-profit sectors.
● To connect academic content to real-word projects and goals, supporting the development of skills in problem-solving and decision-making.
● To provide students, teachers, administrators, and families with experience-based, multidisciplinary, sequential curricular programming.
● To integrate core curriculum materials with cultural literacy programming.
●To provide students and teachers with an extended “classroom” at the Museum.
●To establish and support a museum/school community made up of participating students, their families, and educators.
● To provide Free Museum Admission during public hours through August 31, 2020 for all participating students, entire teaching staff and administrators, and their immediate families.

Resolution: WHEREAS the Board of Education wishes to enter into a contract with Hudson River Museum To participate in an After School Grant with the Eugenio Maria de Hostos MicroSociety School, supporting its work in Design Thinking with Virtual Enterprise International. for the 2019-2020 school year,

WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with Hudson River Museum a program which meets the objectives set forth by the Board and the New York State Education Department, and,

WHEREAS the Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with the Hudson River Museum to provide these services, and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Hudson River Museum at a cost not to exceed $10,000

It is acknowledged and agreed that pursuant to the terms of that certain intermunicipal agreement by and between the City of Yonkers Board of Education (“BOE”) and the City of Yonkers (the “City”) as filed in the Office of the City Clerk on June 16, 2014, the terms of this agreement are subject to review and revision by the Corporation Counsel, as well as approval by the City’s Board of Contract and Supply. Furthermore, this Agreement shall not be enforceable until signed by both parties and approved by the Corporation Counsel’s Office.
