Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Term: Purchase Orders and Service Amount: $244,883.50 Scope: To purchase Houghton Mifflin Harcourt to purchase the HMH Big Day core Pre-K curriculum program for 71 prek classrooms and 4 dual language/bilingual prek classrooms. This program will provide curricular resources to support the Pre-K program. In addition, ALL 81 YPS prek teachers will receive 1 full day of professional development in the month of June 2019. Big Day Core Pre-K Curriculum is a comprehensive and integrated bilingual early learning program designed to instruct through research-based and interactive learning philosophies, allowing students to engage in all content areas through exploration and center-based activities and it contains an online instructional component. The Big Day Pre-K program is in use in 6 Pre-K classrooms and aligns with the NEW New York State prek Learning Standards.

Resolution:

WHEREAS the Board of Education wishes to enter into a contract with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Education to purchase Big Day core Pre-K curriculum program for 71 prek classrooms and 4 dual language/bilingual prek classrooms and professional development to support Prekindergarten and Preprimary teachers for the 2019-2020 school year, WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, a program which meets the objectives set forth by the Board and the New York State Education Department, and, WHEREAS the District has determined that these services can best be provided by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt , and, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Inc. D/B/A LEGO Education North America at a cost not to exceed: $244,883.50. It is acknowledged and agreed that pursuant to the terms of that certain intermunicipal agreement by and between the City of Yonkers Board of Education (“BOE”) and the City of Yonkers (the “City”) as filed in the Office of the City Clerk on June 16, 2014, the terms of this agreement are subject to review and revision by the Corporation Counsel, as well as approval by the City’s Board of Contract and Supply. Furthermore, this Agreement shall not be enforceable until signed by both parties and approved by the Corporation Counsel’s Office.
