Rationale:
The NYS Connect Kids Field Trip Grants program provides funding to school districts through teacher grants of up to $1,000 to cover school bus transportation and admission fees to NYS parks and historic sites. The transportation costs and any admission fees are fully reimbursable to the school district. The grant funded historic sites program enhances the NYS and District curricula and will be focused on The Yonkers History Project for our 2nd through 4th graders this summer, impacting all students in these 7 classes in the Humanities Summer Academy. In addition, it will be used during the school year to continue to send students and their teachers to historic sites. YPS Social Studies has successfully facilitated this program for 2 years, sending over 6,000 students and teachers on free field trips that support the curriculum and bring Social Studies to life for students who may not otherwise have these opportunities.

The YPS district is fully reimbursed for costs associated with bus transportation and admission fees. The YPS would continue to have an account to pay transportation fees and busing costs and collect reimbursement from the NYS Connect Kids Grant Office. The reimbursement program begins July 1 for the 2019-2020 school year. Total reimburseable cost is not to exceed $25,000.
