Rationale:
|
This is to recommend the award of the subject contract to provide district wide comprehensive and pro-active integrated pest management (IPM) for the District. In accordance with amended Part 155 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education which requires the establishment of a least-toxic approach to pest management (155.4(d) (2). IPM is a process for managing, preventing, and suppressing pests with minimal impact on human health, the environment, and non-target organisms. IPM incorporates all reasonable measures by properly identifying, monitoring, and controlling pests through the use of cultural, physical, biological, and chemical control methods to reduce pests to acceptable levels. Pesticides must only be used as a last resort, and if pesticides are needed, the least toxic pest specific alternative must always be selected.
IFB6128 was issued duly issued for bid in October 2017 and bids were accepted and read aloud in public on November 15, 2017. There were three bidders. The apparent low bidder, Predator Pest Control realized that they had made a mathematical error in their bid and requested that their bid be withdrawn. This is an award to the second apparent low bidder.
Parkway has been interviewed, examined and there appears to be no reason to withhold awarding this contract to them.

Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS bids were solicited and opened on November 15, 2017, in compliance with General Municipal Law for Integrated Pest Management in Yonkers Public Schools, and as a result of an examination of the Bids submitted, the administration recommends the award of such bid to the lowest responsible bidder.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That IFB6218 Integrated Pest Management be awarded to Parkway Exterminating Company, 100 Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park, NY 11040
For an amount not to exceed $55,993.00 for term of 365 calendar days.
