Scope: LAS Links Espanol is a research based, Spanish language proficiency assessment that measures the speaking, listening, reading, writing, and comprehension skills of K-12 students. It helps teachers identify language difficulties a student may have in Spanish and track and monitor progress in attaining Spanish language proficiency. The assessment will be administered to all students enrolled in the bilingual program at Cornell Academy, Dodson, Enrico Fermi, and YMHS.
When combined with NYS English as a Second Language Achievement Test (NYSESLAT), the LAS Links Espanol provides a complete linguistic profile. Stakeholders can use comprehensive language proficiency data to target instruction to meet each student's needs during the year to help speed progress toward Spanish language proficiency.

Agreement with Data Recognition Corporation for LAS Links Espanol testing platform and scoring services.
WHEREAS the Yonkers Public School District wishes to provide a comprehensive linguistic assessment in Spanish to all students currently enrolled in the District's bilingual program, and
WHEREAS the Yonkers Public School District has chosen the Data Recognition Corporation that monitors student growth in their native language, and
WHEREAS the Data Recognition Corporation offers the capability to manage assessment programs on line, to provide reports in a data file via web access for District as well as school access, and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into agreement with Data Recognition Corporation for LAS Links Espanol for the term of 10/1/2018-9/30/2019 at a total cost not to exceed $19,416.75.
