To prevent the cessation of First Mile Square, LLC’s transportation services to Yonkers Public Schools children.

Resolution:
|
WHEREAS, the Board of Education of Yonkers Public Schools (the “Board”) entered into a transportation contract with First Mile Square, LLC wherein First Mile Square, LLC agreed to provide transportation services for the students of the Yonkers Public School District; and
WHEREAS, Transport Workers Union Local 100 has announced its intention to strike against First Mile Square, LLC, on November 6, 2017; and
WHEREAS, First Mile Square, LLC, will be in breach of its contract with the Yonkers Public Schools if it is unable to provide the transportation services required by that contract on November 6, 2017; and
WHEREAS, the unavailability of transportation services required to be provided by First Mile Square, LLC, will create a significant safety risk for Yonkers Public School students and a serious hardship for the families of Yonkers Public School students; and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of The Board of Trustees of the Yonkers Public School District to take whatever action is available to it to protect the students and families of the Yonkers Public School District;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of Trustees hereby authorizes the Superintendent and counsel for the Yonkers Public Schools to take all available legal action to prevent a strike that will interfere with providing transportation services to Yonkers Public School students.
