Scope - The purpose of this resolution is to renew our District-wide subscription to Symantec’s Anti-Virus solution. This will continue to allow the District to remain up to date with all virus updates that are released by Symantec. Maintaining an updated Anti-Virus Enterprise solution minimizes the risk of the spread of viruses. The subscription will be for a period of one year (July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019) during which all virus definition updates will be received by the District’s Data Center servers and disseminated to all servers and then to all network attached clients. These updates are released frequently, as new viruses are discovered, and provide computers with the necessary virus protection. In addition the District will also be entitled to all software upgrades that are released during the course of the subscription. Additionally, all incoming and outgoing electronic mail is afforded the same protection by ensuring that all attachments are scanned for infectious files thereby either removing the virus or deleting the attachment.

Resolution: WHEREAS the Yonkers Public Schools is in need of renewing our District-wide subscription of Symantec’s Anti-Virus software solution for all of our computers and District servers as well as electronic mail, and,
WHEREAS this subscription will provide technical support and virus definition updates, District-wide, as well as software updates for the 2018-2019 school year, and,
WHEREAS the District’s administration recognizes that this solution provides the best virus protection, by automatically scanning all incoming and outgoing mail for any types of virus, and if detected will remove or quarantine the virus. This also provides similar protection to all District computers. Keeping the virus definitions up to date will prevent any virus outbreaks that can disrupt the normal operations of the District.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Yonkers Public Schools issue a purchase order to PCMG, Inc. New York State Contract PD67646, in the amount of $34,057.20 for the procurement of the renewal of our subscription.
