Mercy College Center for STEM Education
Term: February 2018 – June 30, 2018
Amount: $19,150
Scope: Mercy College Center for STEM Education will provide professional development to teachers at PEARLS Hawthorne, School 13, and Sacred Heart Grade School to incorporate coding skills into elementary curriculum. Additionally, teachers from YMHS, Lincoln, Scholastic, and Pal Prep will participate in professional development on NYSSLS and receive support in the development of middle school science curriculum. We are amending this resolution for $12,850. We are amending resolution 18.14, BOE approved 11/15/2017, BOCS approved 11/16/2017 for $6,300.

Resolution:

WHEREAS the Board of Education wishes to amend its existing contract with Mercy College Center for STEM Education to provide coding and NYSSLS Curriculum Development and Support for 33 teachers in the district for the 2017-2018 school year,
WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with Mercy College Center for STEM Education, a program which meets the objectives set forth by the Board and the New York State Education Department, and,
WHEREAS the Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Mercy College Center for STEM Education to provide these services, and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Mercy College Center for STEM Education at a cost not to exceed $19,150.
It is acknowledged and agreed that pursuant to the terms of that certain intermunicipal agreement by and between the City of Yonkers Board of Education (“BOE”) and the City of Yonkers (the “City”) as filed in the Office of the City Clerk on June 16, 2014, the terms of this agreement are subject to review and revision by the Corporation Counsel, as well as approval by the City’s Board of Contract and Supply. Furthermore, this Agreement shall not be enforceable until signed by both parties and approved by the Corporation Counsel’s Office.
