Mercy College Center for STEM Education Term: November 2017 – June 30, 2018 Amount: $6,300 Scope: Mercy College Center for STEM Education will provide professional development to teachers at PEARLS Hawthorne, School 13, and Sacred Heart Grade School to incorporate coding skills into elementary curriculum. Additionally, teachers at the Greenburgh Graham School will receive professional development on Google Apps for Education to facilitate digital collaboration between faculty and students. Both offerings will focus on student-centered learning tasks and strategies to use technology to differentiate for all learners.

WHEREAS the Board of Education wishes to enter into a contract with Mercy College Center for STEM Education to incorporate coding skills into elementary curriculum and to provide professional development on Google Apps for PEARLS Hawthorne, School 13, and Sacred Heart Grade School students for the 2017-2018 school year, WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with Mercy College Center for STEM Education, a program which meets the objectives set forth by the Board and the New York State Education Department, and, WHEREAS the Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Mercy College Center for STEM Education to provide these services, and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Mercy College Center for STEM Education at a cost not to exceed $6,300. It is acknowledged and agreed that pursuant to the terms of that certain intermunicipal agreement by and between the City of Yonkers Board of Education (“BOE”) and the City of Yonkers (the “City”) as filed in the Office of the City Clerk on June 16, 2014, the terms of this agreement are subject to review and revision by the Corporation Counsel, as well as approval by the City’s Board of Contract and Supply. Furthermore, this Agreement shall not be enforceable until signed by both parties and approved by the Corporation Counsel’s Office.
