Students in grades pre-kindergarten through grade two will no longer attend Cross Hill Academy, which will serve only grades three to eight going forward. The students in grades pre-kindergarten through grade two will instead attend Yonkers Early Childhood Academy. The new Yonkers Early Childhood Academy (YECA) is a small grades Prekindergarten through 2 school-within-a-school with a focus on developing our young learners with curricula and instruction that engage children as active learners in small-group, differentiated experiences steeped in accountable instructional talk. Social action and student-citizenship, through a student-centered environment grounded in the establishment of a Student Council, comprise the theme of the new Cross Hill Academy. |
