Mystery Science

Amount: $97,660

Scope: Mystery Science will provide digital science curriculum and supply packs for elementary teachers districtwide. Mystery Science is aligned with the New York State Science Learning Standards and encourages students to engage in inquiry-based activities. Additionally, engineering with household items is infused throughout the curriculum. Teachers also have access to assessments, readings, and other resources in both English and Spanish to support science instruction. The cost of this service is supported through CAI Software Capital Funds, which is eligible for 100% State Aid reimbursement (Computer Assisted Instruction).

Resolution
WHEREAS the Board of Education wishes to enter into a contract with Mystery Science to provide digital science curriculum for elementary teachers districtwide for the 2019-2020 school year,

WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with Mystery Science a program which meets the objectives set forth by the Board and the New York State Education Department, and,

WHEREAS the Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Mystery Science to provide these services, and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Mystery Science at a cost not to exceed $97,660.

It is acknowledged and agreed that pursuant to the terms of that certain intermunicipal agreement by and between the City of Yonkers Board of Education (“BOE”) and the City of Yonkers (the “City”) as filed in the Office of the City Clerk on June 16, 2014, the terms of this agreement are subject to review and revision by the Corporation Counsel, as well as approval by the City’s Board of Contract and Supply. Furthermore, this Agreement shall not be enforceable until signed by both parties and approved by the Corporation Counsel’s Office.
